It can be used as both a top layer and a base layer and is also part of the TC 400 - 4 Coat System and the TC 500 - 5 Coat System. Typical Applications: • When used as the base coat in conjunction with AQUAFIN-TC150AL (as the top coat), or as part of the TC 400 - 4 Coat System: Interior and exterior concrete walkways, patios, balconies, breezeways, building entrance areas, and stairways. • When used as both a base coat and top coat where UV stability is not required: Interior and exterior (covered and completely shaded) concrete walkways, patios, balconies, breezeways, building entrance areas, and stairways where UV stability is not required. •W hen used as part of the TC 500 - 5 Coat System: Concrete parking garage decks, turn lanes, and ramps, plus all pedestrian applications listed above. Advantages: • Moisture cured • Seamless waterproofing membrane • Single component - easy to apply Substrate Preparation: • All surfaces must be sloped according to industry standards to facilitate water removal. All water must drain and/or evaporate within 48 hours. • R epair all spalled areas of concrete and fill in all voids and low spots using a suitable concrete repair mortar such as MORTAR-40 CI or MORTAR-QuickPatch. •A ll slabs must be mechanically prepared (i.e. Shot blast) to a concrete surface profile (CSP) 2 – 3 per the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Guideline No. 310-2R-2013. Acid etching is not allowed, broom finish is not acceptable. Burn off any reinforcing fibers and vacuum remains. • Ensure surface is dry, clean and free from any bond inhibiting materials such as dust, dirt, sand, etc. • When using AQUAFIN-TC100M as part of the TC 400 - 4 Coat System or the TC 500 - 5 Coat System, the use of PRO-Tekt SP (Sealant Primer) is typically required. Refer to the current PRO-Tekt SP (Sealant Primer) Technical Data Sheet for surface preparation, mixing and installation instructions and cure times. Pay attention to recoat times and application windows. All data are based on tests performed under laboratory conditions unless otherwise stated. In practice, climatic variations such as temperature and humidity, may affect these values.
• Expansion and control joints are to be prepared in accordance with project specifications. Jobsite Preparation: • Only proceed with application when ambient temperature is minimum 50°F (10°C) and rising, and more than 6°F (3°C) above dew point. Temperatures must be maintained within this range for at least 24 hours after the installation. Do NOT proceed with application when the temperatures drop below 50°F (10°C) or if precipitation is imminent. Special precautions are to be taken when ambient and/or substrate temperatures are approaching, at, or above 90°F (32°C) and it may be necessary to limit material application to evening hours for exterior exposed decks. • Hot surfaces should be cooled and shaded while cold surfaces should be heated and sheltered. Concrete Moisture Testing: Aquafin recommends moisture testing of all concrete slabs prior to application of AQUAFIN-TC100M. However, moisture testing is only a guideline and can be influenced by environmental factors. When in doubt, contact Aquafin Technical Department or your local Aquafin Sales Representative for information about Aquafin VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG3. Refer to the AQUAFIN-TC150AL Technical Data Sheet for pedestrian coating applications over VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG3. • Interior Concrete Slabs: Aquafin recommends testing to determine moisture vapor emission rate (MVER) including “Anhydrous Calcium Chloride” testing as per ASTM F 1869 on slabs to be treated, to determine the MVER in lb/1000 ft2•24 hrs (grams/m2•hr) and to determine RH content (%) as per ASTM F 2170. Do not use AQUAFINTC100M when readings are higher than 3 lbs MVER or 80% RH. Page 1 of 4

AQUAFIN-TC100M • E xterior Concrete Slabs: To obtain an approximate measurement of the moisture in exterior concrete slabs, Aquafin recommends using a combination of in-situ RH content (%) testing and surface MC (%) testing and then comparing the results. Mixing: • Use chemical resistant (Nitrile) gloves and goggles when mixing or applying AQUAFIN-TC100M. • For ease of mixing and placement, the temperature of the material should be between 70°F to 80°F (21°C to 27°C). • Open container and mix for 1 - 2 minutes until streak free mixture is obtained. Thoroughly scrape sides of pail as material is mixed. Boxing material is recommended to ensure color uniformity. • Use caution not to whip air into the material as this may result in pinhole blisters and/or shortened pot life. Do not mix in an up and down motion. Installation: Read all instructions thoroughly prior to installation. • Codes and regulations will vary between cities, counties, municipalities, states and federal divisions. Refer to project drawings and specifications and always follow all applicable codes and requirements. • When the application calls for TC 400 or TC 500, all layers in the 4 Coat or 5 Coat System may be required. This includes the use of PRO-Tekt SP (Sealant Primer), even if concrete surface conditions do not appear to warrant the use of a primer prior to the application of AQUAFIN-TC100M. See illustrations and chart located on page 4 of this Technical Data Sheet. • For best results, apply AQUAFIN-TC100M using a notched squeegee or a notched trowel. A phenolic resin core roller may be used but extra care should be taken not to trap air which may result in bubbles. • Apply AQUAFIN-TC100M in a continuous coating (wet on wet) application to minimize lines and/or streaking. • For warm weather applications [above 75°F (24°C)], keep product containers out of direct sunlight. Notes: Always verify that the proper WFT (wet film thickness) has been achieved by measuring each coat using a wet film gauge. As a minimum, it is recommended to check the mil thickness in every corner, plus the center areas of the application area. Large areas will require many check points. When applying multiple, thinner coats, verify that the total DFT (dry film thickness) meets the stated requirements. See coverage chart for minimum WFT mil guidelines and DFT mil requirements. Pedestrian Applications where UV Stability is not required: • Base Base Coat: Apply AQUAFIN-TC100M at a rate of 85 – 100 ft2 per gal (2.0 - 2.4 m2 per liter) to achieve a minimum of 16 mils WFT (wet film thickness) [12 (± 2) mils DFT (dry film thickness)]. • Allow base coat of AQUAFIN-TC100M to cure [typically16 hours at 75°F (24°C) and 50% relative humidity]. • Top Coat: Apply AQUAFIN-TC100M within 36 hours at a rate of 85 – 100 ft2 per gal (2.0 - 2.4 m2 per liter) to achieve a minimum of 16 mils WFT [12 (± 2) mils DFT]. • Immediately (within 2 minutes) after application, broadcast Aquafin Coated Quartz Sand at a rate of 10 - 20 lbs/100 ft2 (0.5 - 1.0 kg/ m2) or as required to achieve a slip-resistant finish and immediately backroll sand into the wet coating so that the sand is fully encapsulated. The aggregate should be applied vertically, allowing it to fall onto the AQUAFIN-TC100M. As a second option, clean, dry, washed, oven dried, rounded sand, 16 - 20 mesh (0.84 - 1.19 mm), 6.5+ Mohs minimum hardness can also be used for the sand broadcast. • Total System Thickness: 32 mils WFT + 15 mils due to sand aggregate broadcast (20 to 28 mils DFT + 15 mils sand). Do not apply sand broadcast. • Second Top Coat: Apply AQUAFIN-TC150AL second top coat within 36 hours at a rate of 85 – 100 ft2 per gal (2.0 - 2.4 m2 per liter) to achieve a minimum of 16 mils WFT [12 (± 2) mils DFT]. • Immediately (within 2 minutes) after application, broadcast Aquafin Coated Quartz Sand at a rate of 10 - 20 lbs/100 ft2 (0.5 - 1.0 kg/ m2) or as required to achieve a slip-resistant finish and immediately backroll sand into the wet coating so that the sand is fully encapsulated. The aggregate should be applied vertically, allowing it to fall onto the AQUAFIN-TC150AL. As a second option, clean, dry, washed, oven dried, rounded sand, 16 - 20 mesh (0.84 - 1.19 mm), 6.5+ Mohs minimum hardness can also be used for the sand broadcast. • Total System Thickness: 48 mils WFT + 15 mils due to sand aggregate broadcast (30 to 42 mils DFT + 15 mils sand). Note: A double coat application of AQUAFIN-TC150AL will increase the longevity and overall performance of the coating system. TC 400 - 4 Coat System and TC 500 - 5 Coat System: Refer to current AQUAFIN-TC125 Technical Data Sheet for layer-bylayer application instructions. See page 4 of this Technical Data Sheet for guidance in layering sequence. Protection and Curing: • At 75°F (24°C) and 50% relative humidity, allow each coat to cure a minimum of 16 hours. • Allow 96 hours [based on 75°F (24°C) and 50% relative humidity] before permitting pedestrian traffic on the finished surface after application of AQUAFIN-TC100M or AQUAFIN-TC150AL as the final top coat. • Allow at least 120 hours [based on 75°F (24°C) and 50% relative humidity] before permitting vehicular traffic on the finished surface after Page 2 of 4
AQUAFIN-TC100M application of AQUAFIN-TC150AL as the final top coat (as part of the TC 500 - 5 Coat System). • AQUAFIN-TC100M is sensitive to heat and moisture. Higher ambient or higher surface temperatures, or high humidity will accelerate the cure time. Cooler ambient or cooler surface temperatures, or low humidity will extend the curing time. Care and Maintenance: • A weekly cleaning routine is recommended for busy areas and will help extend the life of the pedestrian traffic coating system. • Sweep or vacuum the top surface, and then clean it with a wet mop. • For occasional heavy cleaning, the use of a pressure washer (maximum 1,000 psi) is recommended along with a low suds, bio degradable detergent. It is important to thoroughly rinse the area and remove all traces of residue and detergent to prevent a slipping hazard. • Solvent-based cleaners may cause damage to the pedestrian traffic coating system and are not recommended. • Leaves, rusted metal, soil from plants, and other stain-causing materials can result in permanent discoloration to the top coat of the pedestrian traffic coating system. Contact Aquafin Technical Department or your local Aquafin Representative for recoating recommendations when staining has occurred. Clean-up: Immediately clean all equipment and tools with polyurethane-grade solvent (alcohol free). Limitations: • AQUAFIN-TC100M is not UV Stable. Use AQUAFIN-TC150AL as a top coat in areas subject to direct sunlight. • Do not thin AQUAFIN-TC100M with solvents or dilute in any manner. • High temperatures/high humidity will result in shortened working times. • Contact Aquafin Technical Department or your local Aquafin Representative for guidance in jobsite conditions outside the stated limits. • Once containers have been opened, use material as soon as possible. • Color may vary due to batch to batch variation, always “box” different batches to avoid it. • Do not use on applications including split slabs, buried membrane, sandwich slabs with insulation, slabs over unvented metal pan, magnesite, and non-structural lightweight concrete. Contact Aquafin Technical Department with questions. • Pedestrian traffic coating systems are not replacements for proper repairs on damaged, deteriorated, or cracked concrete structures. • If concrete repairs are needed, consult a licensed Engineer and ask an Aquafin Representative about Aquafin concrete repair products. • Not recommended as a substitute for roofing over occupied space.

Our product recommendations are based on industry standards and testing procedures. It is the buyer’s obligation to test the suitability of the product for an intended use prior to using it.
