EPOXY Healer-Sealer
Two-Component, Low Viscosity, Consolidating, Translucent, Epoxy-Acrylic Resin Coating CSI Div. 03, 07 + 09 03 01 00 Maintenance of Concrete 07 18 00 Traffic Coatings 09 91 33 Primers Product Description: EPOXY Healer-Sealer is a two-component, low viscosity, consolidating, translucent, epoxy-acrylic resin coating that heals and seals concrete surfaces. When used as a flood coat, EPOXY Healer-Sealer fills fine cracks and penetrates the concrete to form a protective sealer that increases the wear resistance of the concrete surface. Typical Applications: • Bridge decks • Parking decks • Roadways • Airport runways & taxiways • Columns and beams in splash zones • Industrial concrete floors • Primer for subsequent epoxy or urethane deck coatings Advantages: • Cures quickly • Consolidates porous and dusting surfaces • Provides protection from salts and chemicals • Reduces water absorption of the concrete Substrate Preparation: • All surfaces must be dry, clean, and free from loose sand, dirt, dust, oil, grease, sealers, paint, existing coatings, and other foreign substances that could interfere with adhesion. • Concrete must be at least 28 days old, and must have reached a minimum 3,000 psi (20 MPa) compressive strength. Repair all spalled areas of concrete using a suitable concrete repair product such as MORTAR-40 CI. • Remove all contaminants and open surface and cracks by shot-blasting or sandblasting to a minimum concrete surface profile (CSP) of 3 - 4 per the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Guideline No. 301-2R2013. • Remove any remaining dust and debris in cracks and on concrete surface by blowing off with oil-free compressed air. • Clean steel surfaces to white metal according to SSPC SP 5. • Hot surfaces should be cooled and shaded while cold surfaces should be heated and sheltered. Mixing: • Epoxy-acrylic resins are temperature sensitive and care should be taken to condition all components to between 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C) prior to mixing and placement.

All data are averages of several tests under laboratory conditions. In practice climatic variations such as temperature, and porosity of substrate may affect these values.
• The volume mixing ratio is 4 parts A to 1 part B (4A:1B). Carefully mix each part individually and then accurately measure out the correct volumes of component A and component B before combining together. Mix for at least 3 minutes using a low speed drill with a jiffy mixing blade or paddle. Occasionally scrape the sides of the container while mixing. For best results, mix at slow speeds (300 – 500 rpm) to prevent entraining air, and continue until a homogeneous mixture is achieved. Do not mix in an up and down motion. • EPOXY Healer-Sealer is a thermosetting product. After mixing, apply all material immediately! Do not leave EPOXY Healer-Sealer in the mixing container! Installation: Read all instructions thoroughly prior to installation. • Only proceed with application when the temperatures remain between 40°F and 90°F (4.4°C and 32°C) and protect from freezing for 6 hours after application. Do not apply EPOXY Healer-Sealer in wet weather or if rain is imminent. Coating should not become wet within 6 hours after application. To reduce outgassing, outside temperatures should be falling (installation should be done in the late afternoon) and coating should be applied at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point.

EPOXY Healer-Sealer • Swiftly pour mixed material over the concrete and quickly distribute EPOXY Healer-Sealer evenly over the area to be treated. • Allow EPOXY Healer-Sealer dwell time of 10 minutes so that it has time to penetrate into the concrete and fill cracks. If material is absorbed to quickly, a second application will be necessary. • After 10 minutes, use a squeegee or broom to move all excess material (that has not been absorbed) into the next area to be treated. Continue the process. • After 20 minutes, broadcast dry, #20 mesh sand at a rate of 2 lb/yd². • Allow to cure until no longer tacky. • Remove all excess sand by sweeping and using dry compressed air. Curing: When used as a finished surface: • Allow EPOXY Healer-Sealer to cure to touch until no longer tacky [typically 5 – 6 hrs at 74°F (23°C)]. • Curing time will vary, depending on surface and air temperatures. Cool temperatures will extend the working and curing time. High temperatures will shorten the working time and curing time. • Ensure all areas are entirely tack-free and all sand is completely bonded to EPOXY Healer-Sealer before opening to pedestrian or vehicular traffic. EPOXY Healer-Sealer can also be used as a primer prior to application of certain epoxy or urethane coatings: • Contact Aquafin Technical Services for approval and instructions. Clean-up: EQUIPMENT: Uncured material can be removed with approved solvent. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. MATERIAL: Collect with absorbent material. Flush area with water. Dispose of in accordance with local, state and federal disposal regulations. Limitations: • Do not thin or dilute. • Do not use on cracks greater than ¼” wide. Contact Aquafin Technical Surfaces for wide crack pre-treatment recommendations. • Do not mix more material than can be used within 20 minutes [based on 74°F (23°C)]. • Substrate temperatures should be a minimum of 40°F (4.4°C). • Once containers have been opened, use material as soon as possible. • Consult Aquafin Technical Department when mixing or placing outside of the temperature recommendations listed. • EPOXY Healer-Sealer is translucent and is not designed to be an aesthetic product. Variations in substrate porosity, repair materials, and substrate discoloration will contribute to the end look of the finished product.

Storage and Shelf Life: • 3 years in original unopened container when stored at temperatures between 40°F and 90°F (4.4°C to 32°C). • Keep containers closed, store in a dry, dark, cool place away from heat, and direct sun. • Protect material from freezing and temperatures below 40°F (4.4°C). Safety: Refer to SDS. For commercial use only. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear rubber gloves and safety goggles during mixing and application. After contact with skin, wash with plenty of water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical advice. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. LIMITED WARRANTY: AQUAFIN, INC. warrants this product for a period of one year from the date of installation to be manufactured free of defects and to be consistent with its technical properties as stated in our current Technical Data Sheet. This product must be used as directed and within its stated shelf life. AQUAFIN INC. will replace or at our discretion refund the purchase price of any product, excluding cost of labor, which is proven to be defective. Our product recommendations are based on industry standards and testing procedures. It is the buyer’s obligation to test the suitability of the product for an intended use prior to using it.
